$100 Laptop or $200 Ipod

$100 laptop

This could possible be the coolest thing I have ever heard of. Open-source education, wind up computers, peer-to-peer mesh networks. The possiblities are amazing. All you need is one person attached to the internet and then everyone is who is attached to that guy. Sure small hard-drive space is bad, but that can be over come but shared massive hard-drive centers, hint Google is backing this also. This is taking the old dumb terminal out of geeks basments, re-inventing it and then spitting it back out. People would, and still do, have all of there data on one central server, file server, then all you need to do is log into that server and you have all of your files. With the data transfer speeds of today that would be easy. Perhaps the day is coming where we can rent hard drive space by the tera-byte. This would mean then that most app's would be only thin clients, only a little bit of the proccessing done on local machine, with app-servers running the world.

This tech also has soem very inovative features. Such as it is made of rubber, or something like it, so that when it is closed it is basically water proof. I mean come on that is cool. I want one so bad.

Anna Nicole Smith? Supreme Court?

What What

How in the world is this worth the Supreme Courts time? Who cares? I geuss if your rich already and you were popular you can do anything. Plus look at her lawyer's name. It is good for a chuckle.

Hehe

Bad

What in the world, someone with some English skills, Drew, tell me I am not imagining that this "Writer" can not write.

Ipod Nano

Yeah

Don't get me wrong here, I was going to buy one of the nano's because they were cool. But I had to stop myself because I knew that there would be little problems like this and also there are going to be, in the following years, some majorly cool looking ipod's. This tech is still new to the market so of course there are going to be problems, plus if you look at a nano they are so small that I would want to put it in my pocket and unless it is sturdy it will get damaged when I do that. I think that is what these people probably did. At least Apple is going to fix these, maybe then they will find an easier way to change the battery.

Intelligent design

As far as I understand Intelligent design and the premise that it is trying to use to get into schools is that evolution did happen but that in the beginning and along the way some guiding force helped everything end up the way it did. While this is not bad and I would agree that with all the complexities of nature it is hard to believe that a human could have thought all this up. What I do not understand is why people are even considering putting this in the schools. If the basic part of Intelligent design is that:

"Something smart" + Evolution = World today

Then why do they have a problem with teaching evolution in school and then when people are with their religious groups, whatever they may be, they can add that power on. Just a simple bolt on to what the person all ready believes from school. If Intelligent design is what it says it is then this would be easy. If on the other hand it is a blatant attempt to bring religion into schools, then I think they are doing nothing more then falsifying their claims to get religion into schools.

"Crazy-legs" Mono

As everyone who can see this blog should know I had a hamster named Mono since sophomore year at Luther. He recently died and I thought I should let everyone know.

He lived with Drew and Jared, during the years I was with them, and managed to get into cluster photos both years I think. He survived many different RA's and ate through half of a towel once when I was gone.

Towards the end he seemed to have had a stroke or something to that effect. One side of his body was pretty much useless and to get around he had to push with one leg only. I made sure he had a nice clean space and moved him so that his food was with in reach and water was near. He managed to fight for a long time but finally, as we all do, had to give into deaths embrace. He only had the chance to do crazy legs once in my new apartment before age got took him.

From what I know he lived a long life for his species and probably easy then most. His deafness came from living in front of my speakers for two years and his alcoholism from Jim Bean(just kidding).

Renee came up today and helped me say good bye and take him to his final resting place. I do not know if I would have been able to pull him out of his cage or not. We had a lot of goods and he was never bad, loved everyone and survived NIkki. Now he has to do crazy legs somewhere else and eat peeps with hamsters long lost.

PS: Mono means monkey and that he was. I have never seen a hamster, besides him, hang upside down from the top of a cage just to get a piece or purple peep. Man his checks were a weird color that day.
